Here at Swan Medical Aesthetics, we
take sun damage seriously! Why go yearly for a skin exam just to have a spot
removed? Why risk possibly life threatening, irreversible damage?
We take a multi-faceted approach to
correcting and preventing sun damage. First, each patient will receive a VISIA Skin
Complexion Analysis followed by in depth consultation by Dr Jane Smith.
Sun–damaged Skin. Exposure to ultraviolet (UV) light from the sun can cause premature skin aging, skin cancer and other conditions such as: … Pigment changes, such as brown spots, freckles, age spots and liver spots. White spots on legs, arms and the back of hands.
To protect
itself from the damaging effects of the sun, your skin increases its production
of the dark brown pigment called melanin. The extra melanin makes your skin
look darker or sun-tanned. In some cases, the sun causes an uneven increase in
melanin production, which produces irregular coloring (pigmentation) of the
skin. The sun can also cause a permanent stretching of small blood vessels,
giving your skin a mottled, reddish appearance.
